Hunnewell Furnace is in poor condition. The inner cupola is long gone and the upper portion of the stack is missing. The rear retaining wall remains in good shape on the upper hill. The wagon slope is clearly evident. The overall site is crumbling.
The furnace had two tuyeres and was probably an early hot blast furnace. I found evidence of a storage building on
the hillside above the furnace.

Located 4.8 miles south of Route 1 on State Route 207, just north of 3306. The furnace is hidden behind a barn. The
property owner lives in the brick house, there is a large barn on the opposite side of the road as well. The furnace is
on private property and permission is required - this owner will shoot trespassers.
